Evo replacements.

So ive got this standard JEM 7vwh, and i would like some new pickup suggestions.

The things i dont like about the pickups are as follows.

Neck pickup:

Nearly no pick attack seems to come through, and it sounds very muddy. Alternate picking sounds horrible, especially on low strings. The only way i get a sound im satisfied with is to have bass and mids on 0 and treble on 10.

Bridge pickup:

Its supposed to be an ass kicking screaming mofo. To me, it sounds real tame up to my PAF Pros. I like this pickup a lot more than the neck pickup though, it just doesnt seem to live up to what is said about it.

Re: Evo replacements.

This just goes to show how people hear things differently. I have the same guitar and a Mesa F-30 w/Boss Me-50. Mine sounds great, love both pups. They sound the best when played at live volumes.

I did have a Basswood RG with Evo's and the sound was heavier due to the difference in wood.

Its going straight into a Marshall AVT275. I think this amp sounds fantastic.

Not a bad little amp, but expect a slew of anti Marshall AVT posts to appear in this thread now.

The Evo's shouldn't have the problems you are describing, even with this amp. Try backing the gain off a bit, I suspect you are running it pretty high which these pups and not best suited at to my ears. You may also have them too close to the strings.
