EVO X2N wires?

I want to replace my evo with an x2n and i was just wondering if the wires are the same for both meaning is the red x2n wire the same as the red EVO wire ect.

Is the X2n better for shred rhythms than the EVO

Thanks alot

In my opinion, the x2n is a better bridge pickup. it has much more rhythm and chug as it mainains the lead tones you need. I have it installed in my fp which is basswood. Sounds great. I have not installed it in other bodies so I cannot say what it sounds like in alder or mahogany.

Re: EVO X2N wires?

i had a dimebucker in another one of my axes and loathed it. i traded it out after a month or two of use. contrary to the duncan, i love the x2n. you can roll the x2n back a bit to take some of the edge off of your sound. it's a very rock/metal pickup. should also mention it splits quite nicely.

Yes, all the DiMarzios have the same color code for the wires.

Re: EVO X2N wires?

I just replaced an X2N neck with a new Evolution in the neck position on my S540 RLTD and the Evo's have so much more harmonic response and clarity when you do lead work, It's otherworldly! For what little you give up with the hard rockin' rythmn chords, the unbelieviable sound of the lead work makes up for it ten times over.

Re: EVO X2N wires?

sorry, I didn't post a complete reply. The X2N I had on the guitar was almost 25 yrs old. I pulled it from an old Haigstrom Swede guitar I've had forever. It used to be my main guitar until I got my Ibanez. I don't know how time affects the sound of the pickup, but to answer your question, yes, the X did have a tiny bit more for heavy chording, I think the Evo's hold up for chords almost as well, but the lead lines come through sooo much clearer and stronger. Plus you can sustain and feedback almost anywhere on the neck. I prefer them way more!
