Evo7 in neck and AN7 in Bridge, killer in my UV

Ive been fartin around with different pu configs on my UVBK, and have finally found an awsome combo. I originally had the evo in the bridge and the AN in the neck, but the AN was just an overpowering bass monster(worse than the stock Blaze). And the evo was really weak with gettin a.h.'s

When I switched them around I was stunned. I can now get great screams in bridge pos, and note seperation on B-E-A is 50X cleaner in neck pos. I would highly recommend trying this setup, its great clean and distorted. I use 3 different setups to play through. I use a Digitech rp200, a Korg ax10g, and a Line 6 guitar port (kinda sucks, but ok for $100). Im in an apartment, so thats all I can do at home.

neck evo sounds very cool for gainwork, how does it sound clean? and does it clean up easily?

The only thing im not 100% satisified with, is that its just a hair weak when clean. I can boost it up in other ways.

Dont' you have issues regarding the hotter output in the neck position?

I'm getting a 7 soon enough and I bought an Evo 7 which I want to try in the neck but I'm afraid it will be too loud compared to the bridge pup (Original Blaze).

Any thoughts?

here's my thought...try it and see what you think...and if you don't like it, replace the neck pickup

I put up an Evo7 Bridge pickup demo on this forum a few months back, do a search thru my posts and you'll find it.

Re: Evo7 in neck and AN7 in Bridge, killer in my UV

Kenndoe is right. Try it for yourself to see if YOU like it. I didnt like the AN in the neck because it was not clean enough for my taste. Also 7 strings are going to sound more muddy on B and E strings anyways. Like I posted in a previous post, there are other ways to compensate for sound-like adjusting your preamp and volume control(thats why its there).

I personally like the AN in the bridge. It just seems more versatile and balanced in that position. A couple of months ago I tried an AN in a Schecter(c1+) mahog body in the neck pos and a fred in the bridge. The fred was very mettalic sounding and the AN again sounded way too bassy. I ended up switching the AN to the bridge and put the stock duncdesign (hb103) back in the neck and was then very pleased. Ironically, the best sounding pickup I have is in a BC Rich Rave that I bought about 16 years ago for $100. THe pickup is some stock dimarzio and unsure of its exact model, but its super clean distorted and in clean channels. Basically, its more of how the signal is being processed than having some magical pickup.

Ive been playing about 20 years as a hobby guitarist and I do not do alot of recording, so Im no expert. This is just my opinion from experience.
