Evolution/Fender Hot Noiseless/Evolution?
I have my Mexi strat here, and was thinking about swapping the body out and keeping the neck. I was thinking Evolution neck/Hot Noiseless middle/Evolution bridge. I am set on the neck and middle, but the bridge is my main area of question. I want a
bridge pickup
that does better rhythm work, as well as nice lows. I would more often than naught play the pickup distorted, maybe doing clean work for the third bridge effect once in a blue moon. Would an Evolution suffice? Or would a Breed be better?

The breed would probably give you the sound you're looking for. Although, for rhythm work you would probably want to use the
neck pickup
(that's my personal perspective though).

Evo2 has the same overall sound as
Evo bridge
without the melt your face midrange boost; so it much fuller and smoother and literally works for most anything

As I said D-Sonic but as LuredMaul said Evo 2, both will give you what you are looking for in the bridge.

I kinda want the midrange boost, midrange is what I love (
classic Strat
bell tones
)
But, for rhythm work, would the Evo bridgealso have a decent
bass response
?
And for lead stuff, I like the neck slot because it's hotter imo.

Re: Evolution/Fender Hot Noiseless/Evolution?
Different strokes for different folks but, the neck pickup will have more bass and less treble sound most of the time, so that's when the bridge pickup comes into play so it can make the guitar scream in the high frequencies.
Another thing to consider is that any Evos or Breeds will eat up a strat pickup because they're very high output. If you want midrange boost, consider the
PAF Joe
and MoJoe combination. They won't have as much output as an Evo but they will give you the frequencies you're looking for.

Re: Evolution/Fender Hot Noiseless/Evolution?
Dude I thought that was George Lynch playing...Awesome..You have truely proven the point that tone is in your hands and mind and not equipment. YOU are using a POD and a Vai designed pickup and nailed an awesome Lynch tone with an excellent use of the b5th note selection and sweet legato playing. I would guess you would acheive the same tone irregardless of the pick up choice. Now I better get back to practicing.....

Re: Evolution/Fender Hot Noiseless/Evolution?
If I was you I would get a set of
paf pro pickups
. They have really nice bass and that wont have as much output as the breed or evo so they won't eat the middle pickup alive.

Re: Evolution/Fender Hot Noiseless/Evolution?
Ehh, don't like
Seymour Duncans
... imo they're not worth as much $$$ as they charge, and they're not as high output (a tad weaker) compared to DiMarzios.
Anyway, I might just get a JEM7vwh and swap out some pickups...
