Evolution single coil?

A seller on (that auction site) is selling a 3 pickup set which includes a brand new Evolution middle? single coil. Basic implication is that they are being individually sold, new for 2005. Seller has pics. Can anyone verify this? as I could not find it on Dimarzios website.

Re: Evolution single coil?

Yes i was aware of that. In the auction picture, the pickup is in its own dimarzio box that said "evolution middle" I was wondering if anyone could confirm that they are being sold individually.

Re: Evolution single coil?

I looked into this more and it seems as if they are being sold as three pickup sets in the UK but not the US. The pickup name and model number is "Evolution middle" ISCV2. The only site i could find them on is http://www.guitar-spares.com/index.h...rget=d480.html

Any additional information would help.

Re: Evolution single coil?

Well from my reseach all it is is a hs-2 pickup, nothing special if u look at the description it says

The DiMarzio JEM Guitar Pickup Set comprises of the following matched pickups:

DiMarzio DP158F Evolution Neck Pickup (Humbucker, F-Spaced)
DiMarzio DP116BK Evolution Middle Pickup (Single Coil, Stacked Humbucker)
DiMarzio DP159F Evolution Bridge Pickup (Humbucker, F-Spaced)

If u look at the middle one it says DP116BK, the bk stands for black but if u look on any pickup site that carry dimarzio's pickups and search for DP116 it comes up just a standard hs-2, so really they are fooling you, there is no real middle jem pickup, dimarzio never published one for the public, they said if u want to get closest to the jem middle that u can to use the hs-2 and that site is saying that the hs-2 is the standard middle pickup for the jem.... Very desciving, that always do u homework kids.....

Ps...

Also they are asking 315 american for that set, when u can get a set of the same pickups in the color u want for 260 from musicians friend...

Re: Evolution single coil?

The 116 is an HS2, which is a stacked humbucker. The Jem single is a single coil, not a stacked humbucker. It's been long recomended by Dimarzio as having the closest tone to the Jem single, which by contract with Ibanez they cannot sell.

Re: Evolution single coil?

Duff Beer Man, right below that it has another set:

This combination is an alternative Ibanez JEM guitar configuaration and basically consists of Evolution pickups in a HSH configuration combined with an ISCV2 single coil in the middle. This is the set DiMarzio sell to Ibanez for the JEM series of Steve Vai guitars.
The DiMarzio JEM7V Guitar Pickup Set comprises of the following matched pickups:

DiMarzio DP158F Evolution Neck Pickup (Humbucker, F-Spaced, Black)
DiMarzio ISCV2 Evolution Middle Pickup (Single Coil, Black)
DiMarzio DP215F Evo2 Bridge Pickup (Humbucker, F-Spaced, Black)

Re: Evolution single coil?

I think the 'I' in ISCV2 stands for Ibanez. It could be the JEM single coil.

Re: Evolution single coil?

Im confused... Is this a "new" pickup, or is this just a new naming scheme? If it is new, does anyone have any stats on it?

Re: Evolution single coil?

No its not a new pickup. Its the middle pickup that comes stock on just about every jem. This is being discussed becuase normally you dont see them for individual sale.

Re: Evolution single coil?

As far as I know, from my guitar tech, you can now buy the evo middle (whether that is a true Jem single, or a rebranded HS2 I don't know), but only with a set of evos.

I know this to be true, because I have just bought a set. I will look at the bottom of the pickup tonight to see what the designation is.
