EVO's and Pinch Harmonics

I recently got a JEM7VWH and I've discovered that some pinch harmonics on the third string, are hard to get and fade out quickly. When I get a pinch harmonic on the 9th or 14th fret of the G string and use vibrato, the harmonic fades away. Is this just how EVOs are?, because I have EMG-HZ pickups in my Jackson and pinch harmonics are extremely easy to get and don't fade away quickly. Why are pinch harmonics crappy only on the third string?

I've the same probleme on ly cheap yamaha at the ninth fret.
even the note(E) is weaker on the G string, but it's worst with the pinch harmonic.
I don't have evo in my guitar, but I this has more to do with set up of your guitar.
Can be a dead spot, not a lot of thing do if it's that. Some time tweaking the truss rod help.
A non even fret.
I don't think evo have probleme with the E frequency should be weird in a guitar
Anyway I not sure and professionel advices should be good in your situation

dimarzios are all very sensitive to height adjustments!
I had a dimarzio norton that at first did note get me all the pinch harmonics i wanted but then with some height experiments it was harmonicing all over the neck with ease

Prolly a fret problem. Buzz will kill a pinch. Either that...or it's an excuse

i agree also the players TECHNIQUE has a lot to do with the results of what a pup will or wont do

I don't know how this effects pinch harmonics on upper frets, but I gave the neck a little more bow by adjusting the truss rod and now I have no problem getting pinch harmonics on any part of the fret board. EVOs really scream!

never did get that problem with my ex jem7v though. It can pinch like mad, probably some setup problem or technique problem,.

i just read the thread and have a little side question:

is it better to rise or lower a pickup in it's heigh to get good pinch harmonics? or is it more important on which high you adjust the strings?

It varies by which guitar/pup combo you have and also personal taste of course. I myself do not like the pups rasied up to close to the strings. That's a tone killer. Play around with it a bit and find a nice medium that suits you

It's not your Evo's , it's your technique. Pinch harmonics are possible even on my cheapo acoustic and that's got no pickups at all.
