F-spaced or normal ??

Hi Guys, i own a Yamaha Pacifica 112

http://www.yamaha.com/guitars/produc...3&CTID=5068500

I feel the need to replace the bridge pickup as its quite noisy. I was thinking about the Seymour Duncan JB pickup, but i'm not too sure if its the TB-4 or the SH-4 that would fit in the guitar...

Anybody here who owns a yamaha pacifica and has made similar changes with his guitar??
Any suggestion would be appreciated

Re: F-spaced or normal ??

The pickups are the same physical size, the only difference is in the spread of the pole pieces. It should not make any difference to your sound, it's just whether the pole pieces line up perfectly with your strings, which is really a cosmetic concern. This is apparently a debatable issue, but I think it's more a matter of some people hearing what they think they should be hearing.

Anyway, I'd be really surprised if that guitar isn't F-spaced, but I'm sure the question has been asked and answered before, so finding a more definitive answer shouldn't be a big deal.

Re: F-spaced or normal ??

Basically as I understand it, if you have a fender style trem, be it vintage Fender or Floyd Rose, basically anything that's not a Gibson LP style bridge, an F-spaced pickup will line up better.

Some say it's only cosmetic and that their ears can't hear a difference, others swear you get better string to string balance. There's no difference in price, so why not get the ones that do look better and might sound better too
