F-spaced pickups

I saw in the dimarzio catalog that all tremolo guitars should have F-spaced bridge pickups.

How about the neck pickups? Do they need to be F-spaced too?

Re: F-spaced pickups

F spaced pups are for looks: the strings line up with the poles. The neck pup doesn't need to be F spaced either unless you like the looks more. Most pickups are made with enough output that it has almost zero affect if you use F spaced or non F spaced.

I've used F spaced and Non F spaced with no difference in overall percepted sound. EVH has been using non F spaced since the beginning and still does.

Just my 2 cents.

That's because there is no F-spaced with rail pickups.

F-spaced is only cosmetic to line the pole pieces up with the strings and makes no sound difference.

Straight from DiMarzio.com:

DiMarzio.com:
Most tremolo equipped guitars that have a nut width of 1-11/16” (43mm) or more should also use an F-spaced pickup in the neck position.
All wizard and jem necks have a 43 mm wide nut.

That's what I needed, so I guess I'll use f-spaced for the neck and bridge. Thanks a lot guys.
