Fitting EMGs to a RG2550Z

I fancy the idea of getting an RG2550Z and fitting EMGs (full HSH) with an 18v mod. Is there enough space in the wee rear cavity (near where the jack is, not the trem springs bit) to fit two 9volts?

I'm in a studio right now where the producer swears by 18v modded EMGs, and I see where he's coming from, to be honest.

I doubt you can fit ONE 9V battery...
You might fit them, however, beneath the pots, below the pickguard.

But question is... Why EMGs?

I ask whether you could fit them in the back was because taking off the pickguard every time the batteries die would be a massive pain, cos that'd involve removing the strings amongst other nuisances.

I'm not gonna answer any questions about why I've chosen EMGs, it's irrelevant to my question.

I have a 540S with the 18v mod. One battery is in the pot compartment, the other is between springs in the trem. I wrapped that one with electrical tape. I don't really use the bar, but it may make some noise from hitting the springs if you do.

I know like you said this is irrelevant to your question like you said, but I would try Blackouts if you're looking for actives, there's no need for an 18v mod with them, in fact they advise against it!

This is coming from someone who has 707's and 808's in their guitars and loves them both.

Re: Fitting EMGs to a RG2550Z

Well, I'm in a studio where 90% of the guitars are EMGs with 18v mod. And to be honest I'm liking it.

I'm not definitely going with that choice, but I am exploring my options, so it doesn't help when people go "you don't wanna use them!"

Actives with noise reduction and all, based on my *actual experience* of being on tour and how much more convenient it is for the guitarist and soundman (not to mention helping give more umph for amps that otherwise sound weaker with passives), EMGs, or SD blackouts if they turn out to be better, would be incredibly useful.

I don't mean to offend anyone here but there's a big rift between the sort of middle-aged guy who has an office job and swears by his Tone Zones and plays in his lounge on Saturdays for his own entertainment (not pointing at any individual) and someone who's realised that all his (i.e. my) pontificating about the superiority of passives and so forth was pointless after being on tour and having to have the guitar tech spend longer tweaking the (borrowed) amp cos I've got passives as opposed to the other person (and everyone else) using the amp who has EMGs. After all, mine is a metal band and I need a high-gain tight sound. My bareknuckles aren't bad but with EMGs or blackouts it'd take away the noise which would otherwise result in me investing in a noise gate pedal, which I find would be more of a pain. I don't really care how sacrilege it is to use EMGs.

I'm still not decided on model of Ibanez (got an endorsement!) so I've not come to a final decision yet. Thing is with SD Blackouts, do they have single coils?

There is a big difference between a guy with an office job sitting in his lounge (although I use a spare bedroom rather than playing in the lounge )and being on tour with a metal band. It really is horses for courses. Touring life is very different from saturday afternoon life so to speak, neither's better they're just different and I agree from "back in the day" when I used to play out a lot, my set up at a gig was very different to what I actually thought sounded how I wanted to sound for my own enjoyment.

I'd suggest from a touring point of view to go for the 2570 simply because it's a rear routed body, thich means if you DO need to get in the back, of the guitar it's easier. If you want a scratchplate, then add one (like the 770DX has) but avoid having to open up the front of the guitar all the time when things go wrong.
