Fixing up a Jackson

Hi,

I was given an old jackson a while ago and im looking into doing it up. Im not sure of the model or year but im checking it out, it looks like it cost about $400- about the same quality as an Ibanez just lower than a RG550.

It plays great but sounds really wierd, i put an old Ibanez V8 humbucker in when i upgraded my Ibanez. This made it sound REALLY bassy through any of my amps (especially my recto ).

It has two humuckers and i would like to wire it like one of John Petruccis guitars with a 4 way switch (neck, bridge, two inner coils).

My question is can anyone advise me of which pickups i should buy, and would different sized tone and volume pots make it sound less bassy?

Thanks,
Mark

250k pots will help with the bass problem.
What style switch does it use now?

I have a diagram to get the JPM switching using a 3-way tele styl switch.

If it uses the LP styl switch, DiMarzio has those switches and a diagram to wire it up.
