FRED and PAF Pro- Neck vs. Bridge

I recently acquired both these pick ups for my RG1570. I know Satch uses FRED in the bridge position, but I was wondering what FRED would sound like in the neck position. Anyone tried this? The PAF Pro is a very versatile pup and sounds great in the bridge and neck position, but I'm just curious about this.

Also, any suggestions for a DiMarzio single coil to go between these pups? Thanks.

Re: FRED and PAF Pro- Neck vs. Bridge

I have had a 550 with a fred in the bridge and paf pro in the neck for years, and its by far the best way to have it for me..

The deal is that you want to have a pup in the bridge with a higher output then the pup in the neck, and seeing as the fred has a slightly higher output then a paf pro, it works well in that combo

But there are no hard and fast rules and you can experiment with any combo you like, Dimarzio website just states that as a guideline...

Paf pro in the neck gives the best clean sound ever... I love it...

Thanks for your input IbanezFreak777. Yeah, I've decided that's probably the way I'm going to go with it.

Any suggestions for a center single coil to match the two?

Never really bothered with the center pup, cause my 550 center is never really used...

^ That's what I've been looking at recently too. Sounds good.
