Fred in RG 20th?

Anybody try a Fred pickup in one of these yet? I like this pickup in a couple of my other guitars, I just wondered why they don't seem to popular for RG's.

Re: Fred in RG 20th?

the fred sounds marvelous in the neck. i used to have a fred in the neck of an old rg550 and an evo in the bridge. the fred was superb, the evo was...good. in basswood, the fred/super3 combo is my favorite.

I had a fred in my Rg550 for 10 years and it sounded great, I also had the paf pro in the neck position. I think you will fined that most dimarzios should sound good. It depends what your after and what you want to play.

I have a Mo Jo in the neck of my RG2550 (Mo Joe is a newer version of the FRED, almost the same thing). Its a good neck pickup. Gets a good shred tone, real fat and warm without too much of that glassy tone. I like it.

I have a FRED in the neck position on two guitars - I really like it.
One has a Norton in the bridge and the other has a Tone Zone.

I'm thinking of putting a Fred and a MoJoe in my Strat plus to see how it sounds.

I have the MoJo in the bridge and PAF Joe in the neck of one of my customs, and they sound great. I recommend the combo.
