Getting really p*ssed off at EMG!!!

I ordered EMG's for my JEM back in June 6, the sales rep said that they should come in a couple of weeks. I have numerously called Guitar Center, and it's been over a month and a half and they still haven't F'ing come in! What's the deal? I'm a very patient person, but I'm one step away from ripping someone's head off next time I go to Guitar Center!

This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I am seriously going to make a big scene if they come in. Totally unacceptable. Maybe I should squeeze something free out of the manager or something. Are these grounds for getting something in compensation?

Anything's possible, but it sounds like you should be upset with GC and GC only. They probably waited until either they were making a bulk order, or just plain screwed it up. It's par for the course. Next time they shouldn't get your business because they don't deserve it.

Yeah, I ordered some DiMarzios from GC once, and it took a while for them to come in. I suspect it would take even longer with EMGs.

I'm contemplating that should today (wrote this at 12 am) be Tomas will b*tch at everybody day. Here are the plans shall I follow this.

I'm personally going to guitar center and really gonna rip someone a new anus cavity. Will post update on how that went.

On another subject, regarding how great my week is going, it is the second copy of Chrono Cross for the PSone that turned out defective that I got. Will rip a new hole for breathing. Film at 11.

I've dealt with EMG on numerous occasions & their customer service is superb. I can pretty much gaurantee you that it's GC who' dropping the ball. A quick question....are you ordering a standard pickup (81, 85, SA), or a custom pickup (707, 81-7). A standard pickup shouldn't take that long. However, a custom pickup will take about 2-4 months because they aren't production models. They are made-to-order.

You know, I think this is more like a sign ;-)

Putting EMG's in a JEM7V is pure blasphemy..
It's wrong

I'm with Rev777 on this man...I just got an EMG order in on Tuesday for some stuff we ordered the week before. Having worked for GC, I know that often, things sit in the SPO rack (special orders) for days without a call to the customer. On top of that, you may have had your pickups just put on a list to get ordered...when they need to make an order, they'll decide to include yours.

EMG has been awesome. This is a NAMM show period and they still got an order of 85's, 2 707's, and some 81's and an 89 to us. So don't blame them...it's gotta be the middle man...

I remember when I bought some Dimarzio's from the now-defunct Mars Music. Same sorta corporate, big box mentality. Took FOREVER and a day. But in the end, what can ya do? I called, called, bitched, checked, and it still took about 6 weeks or so. Sucks, but bitching doesn't seem to help.

Still, next time, you can order online, from someone like Musicians Friend. I ordered my RG2027 from Rich, online, and got in in a week. I ordered my Blaze bridge pickup from Musician's Friend, and got in in about 4 days. Online ordering is pretty sweet.

dude, EMG's are quite worth the wait though. I never did order anything from GC. I'm sort of committed to the local guys here, not to mention I get deals from them. But they told me that all of EMG's pickups are made to order. They don't have a huge bin on them laying around like Duncans or DiMarzios, they have to make them every time you order them. I just ordered a pair of 89's. My Schecter already has regular EMG's in them but I figured as long as I'm putting dual 85's in it, I may as well get the split coil version so I can get single coil sounds too. But really, EMG's just give you a lot more power and...well, in my opinion they're just nicer than passives. I don't know about the 81 though, it is a little too brittle for me. I find that I can get a better metal sound with the 85 in the bridge than the 81. It's all personal preference of course. But I'm going to have to say...if you're into passives and want DiMarzios...and you're wanting a higher output, go for the X2N or even the PAF pro. I tried the breeds, I thought about Evos, but Breeds actually sounded COLD. I mean it, there was no life in the signal. Now my X2N in my RG550 smokes. But take it from me, all DiMarzios are made for tube amps. End of story. Just wait for the EMG's, you won't be disappointed!

My advice? Take a deep break, go in, and be polite about it. Polite but firm, if need be, but rational and polite. 6-8 weeks is sorta the cliche wait, after all... Put yourself in GC's place. The guy who's head you try to rip off, odds are, isn't personally responsible for the delay, so why take it out on him?

As far as grounds for compensation, I'd say hardly. These things happen. There's worse things than waiting for pickups.

I agree with Drew 100%, and add this caveat...

Next time, try buying online. I've yet to be dissatisfied purchasing items this way.

I agree with all the points made, EMG's sound awesome, thie customer service is excellent, they replaced a faulty 85 for me no problem, and ordering online is the fastest way to get them to your door.
