ground issues

I'm currently in the middle of building a guitar and am having problems with pickup wiring or more precisely ground issues. I installed a ibanez f2 pup in my project (one volume nothing more)and am having a ground issue. When I touch metal the issue goes away. This is how its was wired earlier today.

Still ground issues so I shielded the cavity with foil and added a ground from pot to cavity, still ground issue.

The bare ground from the pup was short so I extended it with a shielded wire, is this o.k?
Any help is greatly appreaciated. I don't like paying people to do things I can do myself but I'm starting to lose my cool.

HELP!!!
Thanks...

Re: ground issues

add more foil on the rest of the walls of the control cavity. make sure you have some on the cavity cover plate as well. also, make sure that you have a little overlapping onto the recess of the cover so that with the cover on, it is completing the circuit and therefore totally shielding the electronics. also, make sure that the ground from the bridge is attached as well. if you want to get even more anal retentive, shield the pickup route as well and attach a ground to it from the volume pot. if your problem persists, then i would look into you house's wiring. get a DI box with a ground lift switch and see if that helps.
