H-S-S pickup suggestions for strat.

I am about to replace the pickups in my HSS strat. I need something really versatile because I play in a cover band doing ALL styles. I am thinking about using a Dimarzio PAF Pro for the bridge. What would be some good Dimarzio singles for the other positions? The strat is alder with a rosewood board. Thanks a lot!

Well I have an HSS Rg and I play everythign from death metal to classic rock and blues. I use a DiMarzio D-Sonic in the bridge and two DiMarzio fasttrack 1s in the neck and middle. The D-Sonic is very versatile. If you install it witht he pole pieces toward the bridge it creats a very warm and balanced rock tone that is good for soloing and even for chug if you want it to. Also, it's a hot pickup that responds well to picking dynamics and the harmoics are good. I would say you can go from that Zeppeling riff tone all the way to an 80s metal tone in this format. And if you want to really get on the metal tones you can flip the pickup around and it's set for drop tunings and very good metal tones.

The fast tracks are good too. They are super quiet and they have good power so they don't get over powered by other pickups too easily. They're sensitive to hieght adjustments so it took me a couple of trys to get the best stratty tone from them that i could. I honestly can say aside from the more solid and heavier bass you can't tell they aren't true singles. ALso they have a lighter magnetic pull so you can get a lot of volume without sucking sustain. ALso they stay completely clean if you eq that way and dirty up gradually nice like good pups should. I can get just about any tones I desire from them.

That's my experience and recommendation. But I imagine most DiMarzio pups sound great. I haven't heard them all but the ones I have heard sound amazing. And the ones I own have converted me to a 100% DiMarzio man.

Why not... PAF Pro/HS-2/Fast Track 1?

Thanks for the suggestions! How would the Air Zone sound in the bridge of a strat? Is it versatile? Does it coil split well? And I like what I read about the Cruiser 1 neck, but how does it sound clean? Any more advice would be great on this!

For a cover situation i'd say Dimarzio DP402 Virtual vintage Blues neck and middle(noise cancelling), Super Distortion bridge.

Re: H-S-S pickup suggestions for strat.

i just installed 2 air norton s (neck and bridge) and a fast track 1 in middle of my SSS american strat....

i'm loving the tone......you could have a very singlecoilish sound adjusting FT heigh and the air norton is an amazing pu....roll off the volume a little and you can get any sound you want..

paf pro in bridge sound like a smart decision......really think about the air norton s on neck.....
