Help identifying a single coil pickup...

I had gotten an RG550 not too long ago...I haven't seen a singe coil pick up like this..


terrible picture but to sum it up...it has square holes in between each pole peice....leaves me scratching my head....anybody have any ideas? thanks

Never saw a pickup like that.
If you back the camera about 5 inches more, and set it to or put the option for macro ( the flower ) and focus it before you take the picture, it should not come out blurry. Try it.

It's just the stock single coil with the cover removed. I've soldered the S1 and older 80s RG single coils in and out of guitars a few times, and they look just like that under the plastic cover. The pole pieces are perfectly flat and have light sanding/filing marks on the magnets, right?

Yep, that's all it is. A single coil with the cover missing.

Im talking about the square holes inbetween the pole peices though....whats with that?

My stock S1 pickup has these square holes as well. I guess it is just the way it was designed...
