HELP!! Installing FRED & PAF Joe into my RG2570EX

Hello,

I have just purchased a FRED and PAF Joe to go into my RG2570EX replacing the existing Dimarzio/IBZ humbuckers. I followed this cct diagram..

http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2004&w=RG2570EX

and basically just replaced the old wires with the new ones (same colours).

Tested all joints and components with a multimeter - all good - plug into amp ... and mid single coil is dead.... and fred and paf are giving broken, quiet, crackly output..... Please help!!!

go back and check all your solder joints over , even the slightest single strand of wire can effect the sound . Switches can some times be difficult to work with because of how close together the terminals are .

the single coil is dead ? Did you mess with it when you put the other two pickups in ?

make sure you didn't loosen up anything else and make sure that the bare ground wires from both pickups isn't touching anything , i usually put electrical tape over them to make sure they dont touch anything but the ground .

Ok thanks for the fast reply! I shall get my finest tooth comb out right now! I didnt mess with anything single coil like..... just unsoldered both reds and black/whites from the 5 way and the green/bares from the volume pot case. Then replaced each wire one at a time with the new one. When reading the dimarzio wiring instructions i noticed it mentioned just soldering white and black together and setting aside.... not connecting to the 5 way like in the diagram???

ROTFL!... well sorta mixed emotions.... yes everything is working ... it's a long story but im gonna tell it cos its funny and well... stupid!..It has taught me to trust my instincts and soldering techniques!

After trying different combinations last night I had no luck.. went to bed, got up... decided to rewire the two pickups according to the wiring diagram again. Tested everything... plugged her in... still no luck!.... Rang 3 music stores ... no techies in today... so I thought ill keep trying... then I thought..."what if" .... You see I run an Alesis microverb rack unit through my amp. I had unplugged it to use the extension for my soldering iron!.... so i unplugged the FX loops and HEY PRESTO!!! shes-a-working!!

Don't make the same mistake I did. Trust your instincts and your multimeter!

Thanks for your quick reply anyways dude.

Im off to scream out some Satch licks
