Help! pickups sound weak. wiring problem?
I just got my SH-6 Duncan Distortion and Gibson 496R installed in my guitar. they sound very weak for such very high output pickups. This is how they're wired. i have a volume and tone knob and 5 way switch. They are wired for humbuckers only.
Position 1- SH-6 hum mode
Position 2-Sh-6 hum mode
Position 3- 496R and Sh-6 hum mode
Position 4-496R hum mode
Position 5-496R hum mode.
Anyone, please let me know if maybe theres a wiring problem that sptil the signal makign them sound very weak before i rip em out and put active emgs or SD Blackouts. thank you

Sounds like a wiring fault... check your wiring again. Either that or there may be some dodgy solder joints.

Try wiring each pickup (one at a time) directly to the output jack, bypassing all switches, pots, other wiring. Is the output now significantly higher?

Without meaning to sound patronising here my mate had this issue and it was simply the fact the pickups needed raising nearer to the strings. If you've already done that ignore me!

could very well be wired in parallel or out of phase.
