Help! Wiring Seymour Duncans on a Double Edge Ibanez

Hi gang. I'm installing Seymour Duncans in my S2020x, but I'm having trouble with the wiring. I used Kevan's wiring diagram on Universal Jems, but translated the color coding to Duncan's pups. If I'm not mistaken, DiMarzio Green and Bare are the same as Duncans. DiMarzio Red = Duncan Black, DiMarzio Black = Duncan White and DiMarzio White = Duncan Red.

After two attempts, the bridge humbucker is always wired up as a single coil. Also, I've done this before... I had an RG2027x a while back and replaced the stock pups with DiMarzios... no problem. At the time, I used a friend's J-Custom 6-string CST as reference... he doesn't have the guitar anymore

Any ideas gang? Has anyone here wired up Duncans in an Ibanez guitar with a Double Edge trem? Thanks!

Did you get the Duncans successfully installed?
Don't know if it's of any help to you, but here's a scan of the manual that came with a PA-TB1. The internal pup wiring is probably the same.

An easy way to figure out which coil is which is to plug the
guitar into an amp, and tap on the metal pole pieces with an allen
wrench.

Obviously this won't help you with phase, but at least it will tell you that
your in the right direction!

drjems,

Please post the results when you get it figured out as I'm about to pop a JB-7 in the bridge and a Jazz-7 in the neck of my 2027.

Thanks,

Well, it took me over a month to get this one sorted out... geez!!! Anyway, after failing with the stock switch I tried a couple other switches and confirmed my suspicions... the bridge pickup I purchased had a bad hot wire on it... no matter what switch I wired it to, I got the same behavior... always a single coil.

By the way, I was unable to find another switch that would physically fit into the S2020 (they were all too deep and protruded out of the control cavity... meaning I couldn't screw the cover back on).

The good people at Guitar Heaven gladly exchanged the pickup for me (I didn't have to hassle with the manufacturer) and now I'm rockin' with Duncans

Kevan's wiring diagram is correct (can't believe I ever doubted him ) provided you switch the colors for Duncans (as stated in my original post). The Jazz and JB sound incredible in this guitar... time to go play some more
