How do I do it? I've been fiddling with it for many days now and I just can't seem to get it.

I'm fine with the wiring, I'm just wondering how to mount them.

Oh ok, you need a mount/ring from the guitar store. stick the screw through the two holes opposite each other in the mount then through the spring and finaly into the hole either side of the pickup, then screw the mount into the body.

Looks like there were rings before, so get yourself a set of mounting rings.

you dont need a mount ring, you can stick some compressable tubing or foam to the underside of your pickup so that it does not drop right to the bottom of the body -stew mac sells it....
then you get some very thin pickups screws with a woodscrew type of thread and screw the pickup directly to the body.

in the picture below, I mounted my pups using draft (draught?) excluder (from the home depot or somewhere) stuck to the underside and woodscrews, they are still adjustable up and down.

Dont put rings on unless you really wanted to ! - Ayrton is right - there were rings on it before but its your decision mate !

But it looks tacky if a guitar had mounts and you change them to direct mount because the top of the route is to wide and you can see the old screw holes.

Look at the guitar, it would be eyesoar without pup rings. Guitar built with direct mount look way better but converted ones look crap.

It's not just the plugged holes. The pickup route is too big for direct mount. Just get a pickup ring like the guitar had originally.
