Ibanez INF1 INF2 are they any good ??

Hi all

I recently bought an Ibanez RG2 giger. They come with INF1 and INF2. Are these any good ?

I do want to change them with some dimarzio evo2's or evolutions.

any info in the INF1 or INF2 would be great !!!

Thanks in advance

Bland and uninteresting. Some useable bluestones, but to be honest, too conservative, i.e. No punch, no balls..

Depends a lot on your rig, but swapping them out's a good plan.

I'm probably in the minority but I think they sound prety good. They are alnico pickups. I think they sound good with distortion and very good clean. Good versatile pickups.

I just got rid of an RGT42, same as a Giger without the paintjob......I liked the INF1 and 2........... tried all kinds of Dimarzio and the only thing that sounded good in it was a D-sonic/Air Norton... but the INF where actually better IMHO

The INF1 and 2 are average at best. They're only good enough to last until you can afford some SD's or Dimarzios.I have 2 RGT42s and recently put Tone Zones in both of them, and man those guitars sound WAY better. The INF 1 and 2 lack presence and are muddy.

You can hear them in action here: http://www.gearwire.com/ibanez-s-series.html

I own a S with those particular pickups, and distorted they do sound somewhat muddy, but it depends on the settings of your amp and effects, too. And I think the guitar has a very particular quality. It sounds very fat, partly because of the mahogany body. And clean it sounds very deep and rich and beautiful. Especially with some equalization, delay and chorus. I think they sound great, but of course it's a matter of taste.

I swapped out some inf's once for a Tone Zone and Air Norton. The INF's actually sounded better clean. (to me)

INFs are alright... they aren't amazing but they certainly aren't bad. Nothing special, but they do the job well enough.

Keep them in the guitar for a while, see what you think of them. If you're not keen on them you can always change them. On the other hand if they're fine then just leave them.

Actually I played both of them. They are actually good sounding pups but I have to agree that they lack "punch". When playing with distortion, they sound rather thin.

Wtf?? You're asking us if the p'ups in your guitar are any good!??! Plug it in, play it and listen. Is it too trebly, bassy, middley? Not enough? Feedback? What does it matter what we think?
