Ibanez is slowly going duncan

seems as though more and more ibanez models are getting duncans now
here is another one that is a prestige RG
http://www.thomann.de/de/prod_large_AR_108670.html

it is loaded with a TB-10 ( a duncan FULL SHRED trembucker)

I'm surprised that they are using duncans, anyone know why? I prefer dimarzios 10x over duncans I think it would be alot cooler to use a d sonic or x2n

Re: Ibanez is slowly going duncan

they might slowly be going to Duncan but Dimarzio is quickly gaining more and more popularity know that shredding is back. Lots of kids are picking Dimarzio over Duncan.

well the duncans to many are better and i guess ibanez is trying to get the "duncan crowd" to buy thier guitars
i know many players that have said i like ibanez but i dont like the dimarzio or ibanez pups they use.
I know you can simply swap them out but many need a stock axe already with duncans i guess?

I wouldn't say they're going Duncan, I'd say they're broadening their horizons.

They've been using EMGs a lot lately as well, and still use DiMarzio/Ibanez pups on the higher end Prestige models.

yeah you are right which is very smart of them to offer many different pups
as a matter of fact i would love to see ibanez have a usa custom shop again
and offer different woods,necks,pups,etc

Re: Ibanez is slowly going duncan

I wouldn't say they were "going duncan". But I would definitely agree that this year especially they have introduced a bulk load more. And it can only be a good thing, it gives people some more choice when they are buying.

But as others have said, EMG's are taking a more active role now too. Which again is a good thing.

I don't think they are trying to choose "just one" pickup manufacturer. I think they are just trying to offer everybody something different choice-wise when it comes to pickups.

Not that one guitar with Duncans is “going” that way, but was it not just a few months ago there was the big bitch fest about Ibanez using “V” pups instead of branded DiMarzios? I actually prefer Duncans, but I am open minded on pups.

Exactly, they're offering more options. This is good news.

Myself, I love 'em both, so I'm just happy to see expansion.

Re: Ibanez is slowly going duncan

I prefer Duncans on vintage or vintage sounding unstruments (classic Strats, Les Pauls, etc). They capture that vintage vibe better IMO. But for all out shred and metal, it's definitely DiMarzios .
