Ibanez prestige 1550m pickups need to go ....

I need some opinions,im taking out the stock pickups on my ibanez prestige 1550m,im not crazy about them at all(tone wise),my question is which model from the dimarzio line of pickups will get me the early van halen sound(van halen first album). This is the first ibanez guitar that i have owned and its just a great guitar to play,my other guitars are hot rodded strats, ash body, maple necks, one humbucker, one volume knob, the pickups in those guitars are seymour duncan 59(great pickup for early van halen),i dont know how the duncan 59s would sound in the ibanez, the ibanez is made out of basswood vs my ash body strats(total different types of wood soundwise),so your opinions on which dimarzio would be helpful.........Thanks

I don't claim to be able to listen to a guitar and know what pickups are in it, but I do know that some pickups sound bad in certain guitars and good in others, to my ears at least.

Rock on!

yes they should work but are a little on the brighter side of the sound you are looking for

may be a Paf Pro (in the neck) / Breed Neck (in the bridge) is another option

I need that brightness because the van halen 1 sound(first album tone)is very bright,so the dimarzio paf pro would be a good chose.

some custom shops dont offer basswood, claiming it to be bland, in both tone and looks

Hi,

i suggest you to use a FRED in bridge position and
a Paf Pro in Neck position. I have two FRED one on
bridge and one on neck in my S1625 and the tone
is very aggressive and warm.
