Ibanez Prestige new pickups HELP!!
hi. i have an
Ibanez Prestige RGA
121 NWF as you can tell by my user name. I want to replace the stock pickups with something that sounds BETTER. I play rock, hard rock, and metal. What pickups do you guys suggest?? I was thinking maybe a pair of Active EMGS likw 81 85 or 81 60 or some combo liek that..maybe some
Seymour Duncans
or Dimarzios. I just dont know pickups well enough to go out and buy them. Can soem one pleaseee HELP???

Re: Ibanez Prestige new pickups HELP!!
I can't give you any personal advice, I can only tell you what I've read. Which is kinda pointless lol
I'd head over to dimarzio.com (I think SD do something similar) and use the 'pickup selector'. Just feel in the details then it gives you 3 pickups that are supposedly suited for you.........
That might give some sort of idea.

Re: Ibanez Prestige new pickups HELP!!
i put a
dimarzio breed
in the neck on mine, i love it, subtle twang, great neck split tones, very nice but not necessarily for all out gain, more organic.. but versatile none the less
i also put a dimarzio Evo2 in the bridge, it's a great high
output pickup
, fairly natural. no major defining characteristics that colour it kinda.. as in the eq seems very balanced so you don't get any extreme bass or highs or mids, it's an allrounder in a way.. atleast that's the best description i can think of for now..
it's just a great high output, well balanced eq, natural bridge pup..

Re: Ibanez Prestige new pickups HELP!!
my favorite bridge pu for rock/hard rock/metal is the
seymour duncan distortion
SH-6. I have one in my rga and it sounds good for that.

Re: Ibanez Prestige new pickups HELP!!
I'd go with a SD 59 and custom custom myself. But you could also try a
Dimarzio Paf Pro
paired with a Super 3. Have you asked for more opinions on the SD board or @ dimarzioforum.com?? Ultimately, what works for someone else may not be for you and it really comes down to what kind of sound you want.
