Ibanez Stock Pickups

What are the best stock pickups from Ibanez. I have mainly heard negative things about them

the ibzusa of old. i really dig the sb series single sized hums and the hb2, but pound for pound(as far as stock goes) i love the old ibzusa's. namely the c2's and the f2(never heard an f3...god, i want to).

I too like the Dimarzio-made IBZ/USA humbuckers. The QM1 & 2 are not too bad.

I have an F3 in my S, and I love the lead sound I get. I'm still searching for a cheap old S540 equipped with F1/C2/F2 PUs so I can get the full IBZ/USA experience.

The Vs are pretty good too. Actually, that bluesy Sound of a V1 in neck position is just what I need for that kind of music.

I've also tested the Powersound and AH-2 PUs, and they are pretty weak. In fact, the AH-2 is is the worst Humbucker i've ever heard.

I don't really like the QMs. I don't really know why. The sound with them is pretty good, but it just isn't what I need.

So, I think with the F series, you are on the safe side. And unless you have GIO Guitar or something like that, you can get some really pleasing tones out of your stock PUs.

It seems then that the V7 & 8 are more on the higher end. Do the INF pickups totally suck? How would the INF pickups sound on a neck-thru model. Better, I would assume.

In my experience, the INF's kinda suck, but the QM's, IBZUSA's, and V series are pretty good.

In my opinion, after owning Japanese Jacksons, US Washburns, and Ibanezes, The mid to high end Ibanezes really do have the best stock pickups.

Of course that doesn't stop me from putting Dimarzios in them anyway

this is true. ibanez does have the best stock pickups of all those, but isn't a fair comparison. still doesn't help the INFs from sucking...

Being a 15 year old, ive played a squier strat, some sort of gibson epi explorer type of thing, and 2 ibanezes. i actually owned the squier before selling it, and i have a v7/v8 equipped RG470. I only have a 10W marsahll practise amp, so i cant judge exactly well.

Teh strat was pretty terrible, it was horribly noisy, the tone wasnt that good, and i jsut didnt like it much.

Teh epiphone was quite old, it was very badly maintained, and teh electronics were going haywire, and hte pickups sounded very muddy to me.

My friends ibanez EDR470 (not sure if its sold in othe rplaces besides HK) is basically a JS shaped guitar, but much cheaper and korean made. The AH1/AH2 didnt sound too good to me.

My RG470, with the V7/V8s; i reckon it sounds pretty nice, its satisfactory at the moment. Before i got a distortion pedal, I loved the V7, it gave a warm fat sound. The V8 was not used much, since the amps distortion made it sound less fat, and i didnt like the tone. After putting it through a distortion pedal, i now enjoy the V8 much more, its good for lead tunes.

NOw if only i could get some money to put some dimarzios in....

The EDR probably sounded like **** because it's not even made out of real wood. It's luthite.

Hmh, I thought the V series pickups sounded thin. I had a V8 in the bridge of my 1989 RG550 (fitted by the previous owner I presume) and a V2 or V1 in the neck, and imo the V2/V1 was muddy and the V8 sounded thin. Put in some Seymour Duncans and the guitar's tone improved a lot. I kept the S1 in the middle, it's ok imo.

The best stock pickups I've heard are in my Dean doubleneck..easily comparable to Seymour Duncans or DiMarzios.

The V1/V2 hums on my S520 sound really nice but I think that's got al lot to do with the mahogany body that just feels right. I think I might put Duncans in it eventually

V1 / V2

These two are actually quite good. I have them in my Saber Classic 420
and they deliver brilliant (in terms of qualitiy) tone. Not too much output, so you get also a good clean tone.
