Ibanez wire color coding inconsistency

I was wiring up a guitar with a V7 and a AH2, and noticed that on the V7, the red was the full pickup, the white was the tap, but on the AH2, this was reversed!

WTF?

Can it be that hard for a manufacturer to be consistent with this from one model pickup to the next? How would you even know what was going if you didn't think to measure it with a multimeter? (as I finally did. Still find it hard to believe, though.)

Particularly unforgiveable considering a lot of their wiring diagrams are based on the color of the wires. No wonder newbies get confused when they are trying to mix and match different pickups!

First rule of thumb, is never blindly follow wiring diagrams. Always check the pups, switches, and pots with a multi meter just in case. I work in electronics manufacturing and form time to time sh*t happens. You would figure however, that the inspectors would have cought it but as I stated earlier, sh*t happens
