Installation problems - EMGs on a Jackson Kelly

Hi folks,

I installed EMGs 81 and 85 on my jackson kelly body (3 way toggle switch, 1 volume) and cant manage to make the thing wont work. Only one of the two pickups give me sound and does not sound good.


This 1 volume knob configuration does not appear on the EMG booklet or website.

Anyone nice enough to drive me through please (dra me a wiring diagram coz i get confused now)

The wiring will be absolutely identical to a 3-way, volume, tone layout just without the wire going from the volume pot to the tone pot. Hit EMG's site, find the document called "EMG's 9 Basic Wiring Diagrams" and follow Diagram 3. Omit the capacitor between the pots, run the ground (black) wire from the volume pot directly to the output jack and you're done.

Your problem could be that the 3-way switch is wired different from a Gibson-style unit as I don't know what kind Jackson typically uses. A picture of the control cavity as you've got it right now could also be pretty helpful.

Don't forget to use a 25K volume pot, the EMGs won't like the 250K or 500K pots commonly used in passive circuits.
