Is it possible...?

To achieve this:

Position 1: Neck SERIES
Position 2: Neck PARALLEL
Position 3: Both Humbuckers
Position 4: Inner coils of both humbuckers (ala Petrucci)
Position 5: Bridge SERIES

with a set of Evos and a STANDARD 5 positions dimarzio switch??!!?!?!?!
This configuration is like the one the 2 humbuckers RGs have.
*IMPORTANT* I NEED A WIRING DIAGRAM TO KNOW HOW TO DO THIS!!!!

I started a similar thread a while ago (http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68877)
but got forgotten hehehe
PLEASE HELP ME!!!! ALL INPUTS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you will need a megaswitch or the EP1112 (DMZ) for that. The standard 5-way does not have enough poles to achieve what you want in my opinion.

Re: Is it possible...?

Thanks for the input Ibateur! The thing is that I don't think all the 2 humbuckers RGs that have this configuration have a non standard 5 position switch in them...I mean, thay have this configuration as a STANDARD feature, and I don't think Ibanez is making low-price guitars with a multipole switch (RG320 has this configuration and it isn't a Japan made prestige hi quality guitar...)

Re: Is it possible...?

Hi I posted a solution using the VLX91 switch as found in the Jem guitars. I've had a look at the RG circuit diagrams and I'm damned if I can understand how they achieve the series parallel selection from the diagram. Yes they do seem to show a fairly standard switch which should be replaceable with a standard 5 position, but I'm not convinced. I can only think that although the switch has 8 contacts (4 for each half) like a normal one it does not switch in the normal way!
Max at Cottam Guitars (see ad) has the real VLX91 for £21.99 I'm sure he'd post to Argentina

I've spent quite some time on this (for my own interest!) and all I can say is you can definitely do what you want with my diagram and the VLX91 but I can't see how to do it with a standard switch even from the Ibanez diagrams!!! If I have a revelation, I will let you know...
Cheers,
Jim

Re: Is it possible...?

THANKS SO MUCH VIM!!! I appreciate the effort man! And it seems it also get you interested! hahahaha
I don't know about getting the VLX91 though...it would be A LOT of money, since our currency goes 3 to 1 with dollars...do the maths for pounds...add shipping charges...custom charges...:S:S:S:S
maybe I will have to take my chances with the Dimarzio standard one (it's a shame I can't get the multipole, those b***ards won't import just that one!!!) and if this config doesn't work I might as well try this one:

looks interesting at least...and it seems it can be done with the standard 5 positions switch...
