Is this possible?

In a Rg550, 5 way position switch, HSH, is it possible to have the pickups wired like this

Pos 1 : Bridge
Pos 2 : Bridge + Middle
Pos 3 : Middle
Pos 4 : Neck + Middle
Pos 5 : Neck

I never use positions 2 and 4, the middle (single coil) I rarely use, but if I could use this connection and use a high output single coil it could sound interesting with a bridge and neck pickups with similar output. Is it possible to wire pickups like this? Its always in coil splitting which I find sounds terrible most of the time.

Re: Is this possible?

sure, that's easy. all you have to do is unsolder the tapped side of the switch. everything on the "other" side of where the single coil is. on the ibanez special 5, its a ground wire and the "tapped"(black and white for dimarzio) pairs. just detach those from the 5 way(you can leave the ground, won't hurt anything) and leave the hots from the neck, mid, and bridge: going to the hot of the volume pot and it will do exactly what you want! standard strat style switching.
