JEM BSB PROBLEM

I have a jem dbk that works perfect and I just got an old jem bsb with some problems the bridge pickup is really weak sounding and the tone seems to affect the bridge volume. Can any one say if the two should be wired the same ? so I can just copy the dbk or has anybody got any ideas ? ( I tried the dimarzio site but they don't seem to have the wiring for my selector switch or if they do its hard to make out)

yep they SHOULD be the same but some one could have messed with it .

didn't the bsb have paf pros ? the paf pro imo is rather weak sounding in the bridge position , espcially compared to a breed which has a full and harmonically active sound .

Try this:

The BSB came out in 96, and the diagram supports the BSB 777V and a number of other models.

Re: JEM BSB PROBLEM

I read somewhere recently (I forget where), that if the tone pot significantly and adversely affects the volume of the pickup, that the pickup may have blown a coil. If you have a spare humbucker lying around, try throwing it in and see if the same thing happens- if so, the tone pot may be the culprit.

Re: JEM BSB PROBLEM

well I did suspect the pickup had a bad coil so that does sound likely

that's what i meant.
Snowjan, open both the pickguards and see what's different. that's the only way to find the problem.

Re: JEM BSB PROBLEM

I had a look inside them both and they are wired the same so that is making me lean towards the bad pickup idea
