Jem sound in a RG7620 ???
Hi everyone,
I'm very satisfy of my RG550 upgraded with a set of EVO 1- EVO Neck
My original RG7620 with his original new 7 doesn't sound right for me..
I'm thinking about replacing the original pups.
But i still want the "Jem &
Dimarzio
EVO sound"
I'm thinking about the EVO 7 for the bridge.
But I have no idea about what could be the good choice & the right balance for the Neck pup !!!
Please help me ?
Thanks & Cheers
Manta.

I think there's a reason Steve doesn't use the Evo 7 in his 7 strings. Don't get me wrong, I've heard it's a great pickup. But Blazes really capture what he does on the 7 string.
But if you're set on the Evo 7 in the bridge, the Blaze Neck in the neck is an obvious choice.

Do you think that the Evo 7 is more interesting for solid Metal ?
I agree about the Blaze on Steve seven string guitars but even if the Evo 1 Bridge is a high output pickup, i thought that i could expect to the same pleasure and the same distinctive sound in a basswood 7 string body that I have in my Rg550 ?
Thanks.
Mantra.

Re: Jem sound in a RG7620 ???
the blaze pickup are great and i can't speak for the 7 string evo but i have had a couple of different original evos in different guitars.
I hate the evo... It can get shrill on the high end and the bass is way too tight for me. I didn't like it for metal or rock at all. It is a high impact pickup with the focus on mids and high mids.
If the 7 string is anything like the 6 string, i would hate it too.

I'm not keen on the Evo 6 in basswood, but love it in Alder. The Evo 7 on the other hand woks very well in basswood. For the neck, there are loads of good choices from dimarzio. I'd go for the blaze for what you are after.

Oh my God, you're right.
It was under the foam : N2 and B2
So i think that I've got New 7 pups, right ?
So even with brand new Blaze pups, I will hear the difference
Does anyone know how much is the Output tension (mV) of the New 7 pickup ???

Yes, the N2 and B2 and "New 7" pickups. True Blazes are marked N1 and B1. You will definitely notice the difference. The New 7 pickups are based on the Super 2 and Super Distortion. Blazes are very different.

Re: Jem sound in a RG7620 ???
I have Blaze and EVO7 Universe and RG7620.
I like both.
The EVO7 is better than the 6 string EVO1 in my opinion.
If you like high output go with the EVO7.
If you like Warm tones go with the Blaze.
