JEM77VBK, Replace PU W/EVO, F-Spaced? Bogner Ecstasy!!
Have a 2008 JEM77VBK with Breeds, they stink on my
Bogner
Ecstasy, WAY too mid rangy and not near enough distortion, AH's are hard to hit and sound flat. The Bogner reacts to pick ups and is a bery picky amp.
I was replacing with the same PU on the White
Jem
, the Evolutions? Anything better with a Bogner Exstasy for the Bridge?
Tex

I'd say no
I think basswood JEMs, Evo's and high end valve amps are about as good as it gets.
It'd be like a JEM10 that you can play and not devalue
do it and then post sound clips

They're very much a vintagey style pickup rather than a flaring nostril icepick in the forehead pickup.
Don't get me wrong, they're great pickups but I think they suit a more classic rock style than the Evos do.

Re: JEM77VBK, Replace PU W/EVO, F-Spaced? Bogner Ecstasy!!
Again The Breeds I HAVE are very low out put to ME. I have an old Ibanez Roadstar from like 1985 and those Humbuckers have much more Ooompoh. Also they are very midrangy (the 77VBK Breeds) and Bogners are heavyy in that department and compressed so it is a BAD combination.
I mean I will not play the Breeds on the Bogner because it makes me dissapointed. I have GOT to get new Pick Ups! I wish I could try out the EVO's on my Bogner before I swap them out. I might ask Guitar Center to let me take one home for an hour and return it. That would be Ideal.
My ernice Ball sounds prety good but these are active pickups. I ahve the LUKE. The Purpilish/Red One from like 1998.
Thanks

If you've got Breeds running through a Bogner Ecstasy, and you STILL aren't getting enough gain, then I'd say something is wrong. And by the way you describe the sound that you don't like (too compressed, etc...), Evos probably won't be the solution. They have a really compressed sound (more compressed than Breeds, IMO). In fact, I'm actually doing the opposite to my S540. I'm replacing the Evos with some Breeds.
Dimarzio has a 30-day return policy, so if yoou want to try some out, then you could do that.
