Just got my X2N and PAF Pro installed

On my S320SP and I can honestly say ..

I'm not impressed.I don't get all the hype over the "X2N being too uber high output" ..it's kind of weak TBH. Maybe it's just me , but i played it over a few Hughes and Ketner amps at my local Musicstop (long and mcquade) and it just doesn't sound much different than my INF1 and 2 that was in their stock. This cost me nearly 300 dollar for the pickups and install. I play through a Marshall MG50DFX amp , as the dimarzio website said it would sound great through a solid state. When I chug riffs, on my open E (tuned 1/2 step down to Eb) it gets SUPER muddy and bassy. Dimarzios are kickass , but maybe I just expected too much out of these pups!

I would open up the back of the guitar and compare the wiring to what is on the Dimarzio website. I can tell you from experience a lot of "techs" don't know there ass from a hole in the ground.

The X2N is anything but muddy.

How close is it to the the strings? Big ceramic magnet plus blades = big string pull.

Re: Just got my X2N and PAF Pro installed

It's an average space from the springs , i could measure it exactly when I get home from work. Yeah the techs that installed it for me weren't the brightest , but it's the only way I could get them installed (live in small town). The PAF pro is sweet and trebly , but i only use that a little bit for soloing, which I suck at haha.I'll take a look at the back cavity when I get home.

Re: Just got my X2N and PAF Pro installed

The X2N is supposed to be quite a distance from the strings. Make sure that the techs didn't wire it like a seymour duncan. It is supposed to be black and white together, red is hot, green and bare are ground. If it is wired up properly:

1. Save your money
2. Learn to solder
3. Buy a 1 meg pot
4. Install
5. ???
6. Profit
