Just put the Custom 5 into my RG2020x

First impression. positions 2 thru 5 worked but 1 didn't...double check...hot lead in wrong spot. resolder......

Well, for starters it wasn't super hot, but it sure woke my guitar up. It's a bit brighter than the v8 and has this really cool midrange peak to it. It has a mix between vintage and modern voicing. When you back the volume back it gets really bright and almost bluesy sounding. but when you crank the volume, the mids and lows kick in and it roars. This pup has alot of bite in a mahogany guitar.

Great pup!!! Im really liking the v7 in the neck so i might leave it alone...

by the way, it was a very easy swap. all you have to do with the Duncan is this. make a note of where the v8 was connected to. red is hot, white is coil tap. disconnect v8 and take out. install Duncan. solder white and red together for coil tap and solder them to where the v8's white one was.
now solder the bare and green wires and solder them to ground. next solder the black wire to where the red wire was. that's just about it.

you do have to take out the switch to get to the lugs, but its really easy to do.

There's no reason that the custom 5 wouldn't sound good in that guitar. It is similar to the JB and similar to the custom.Kind of like a combiation of the two.
