OK, found out that it is not possible with a standard 5-way switch, to wire the following:

Super D - pos 1
Super D 1 coil + 1 coil of a Chopper - pos 2 (power output drops on the Chopper)
Chopper - pos 3
Super 2 1 coil + 1 coil of a Chopper - pos 4 (power output drops on the Chopper)
Super 2 - pos 5...

So instead of the 2,3,4 positions above, I'd like them as below.

What I plan then is
Super D - pos 1
Super D + Chopper - pos 2 in parallel?
Chopper - pos 3
Super 2 + Chopper - pos 4 in parallel?
Super 2 - pos 5

Does anyone have comments on whether or not that will sound okay and especially if it is technically possible?

you could get really close to this with a stock 5-way and the standard Ibanez H/S/H JEM wiring scheme -- the only thing it wouldn't do is have the Chopper at different power levels in positions 2 & 4 and position 3 [it would have to be the same power level in all 3 positions]. but you could wire a push/pull pot or a mini-toggle to switch the Chopper from low to high output.

sure, it's very simple to wire this with a stock 5-way. parallel is exactly what you have in positions 2 and 4 in the first scheme, just with split humbuckers there instead of full-on humbuckers here.

Or you could go to StewMac and get a Superswitch, wire that puppy up to give you exactly what you want, no limits. :-)

I babbled somewhere on here about setting up an RG520 with a set of Evos to give me similar settings to an HSH setup with just HH pups.

Is that a megaswitch as needed to do "special" connections on a guitar with three humbuckers?

I don't know the diffs between E, P, etc megaswitches.

No, that item is for "special" combinations that are hard wired into the switch itself, much like the "special" 5-ways that come on two humbucker RGs from Ibanez.

The one that I have, and suggested is the "Super Switch". It's a 4-pole / 24-lug 5-way switch.

Go to stewmac dot com and look for it. It's not expensive and you can do just about anything you want with it.

On Dimarzio's site there's even a wiring diagram to do just what you want.

It shows their 4-pole switch, but it's similar to the Super Switch.
