Re: Lets talk EVO Vs EVO II
Run, don't walk, to get hold of an Evo2 - it will do metal and more. Its more compressed than
Evo
, just enough to keep the tone from being brittle and too tight. Still got most of the harmonics though. I think its better in the standard Ibanez style bodies made from Basswood, compared to the Evo. The basswood is too flat in resoance get the most of an Evo (better off with Alder or Ash), while the Evo2 seems to work fine.

i gotta chime in here too. i bought a pair of evos to go in my RG421. honestly, i was very disappointed in the tone of em. i couldnt figure out why they sounded so bad, but your idea of the basswood not having enough resonance makes sense to me. i ripped em out and installed a pair of X2Ns and its been smooth sailing since then. wierd.
just sayin....
back to the topic at hand.....

In my opinion it is the same. Certainly with my EvoII anyway.

Re: Lets talk EVO Vs EVO II
is Evo 2 as tall as original Evo? I mean, will it fit into RGA121 bridge slot without drilling?

Sorry but I didn't understand. Is the EVO II "compatible" (can't find a better word) with a transistor amp or not?

Yes it is, IMHO. But every pickup shines with tube amps, but watch out transistor amps are getting better. They may not have the singing and sound throwing qualities of the tubes but they are getting better everytime.

i don't really think that a pickup can be "not compatible" with a certain type of an amp. my guess is that some amps are shrill and harsh and bright pickups just make them more so
YMMV, of course :-)

Re: Lets talk EVO Vs EVO II
a transistor amp ...as well as a tube amp does not care what you have as pickups. You won't hurt your amp with your pickups. And transistors ...spitting out odd order harmonics vs. tube amps spitting out even order harmonics.......transistors will never win the sound contest over tubes. Unless someone reinvents solid state electronics ....and adds the even order harmonics into the recipe while subtracting the odds.
Digital will never win either....its a sampling of the analog signal....not even a exact reproduction.
Im gonna try the evo 2's in the bridge of my jem build(s) from what i have read in this thread. thanks for the info gents.
