Looking for a new Bridge pickup...

I've got an RG550 with an X2N in the bridge, Blue Velvet in the middle, and an Air Norton in the neck. I absolutely cannot wait to get rid of the X2N. Way too much output for my tastes, way too compressed, way too shrill, etc.

I'm looking for a good bridge pickup with good harmonics, fairly strong midrange (but not over the top), not too much output but with enough bite to achieve some of the 80s shred tones (including guys like Paul Gilbert and Vinnie Moore).

I liked the thickness of the Ibanez/Dimarzio F2 (supposedly based off a Tone Zone) in my old RG770FM, but I found it a tad brittle.

Pickups I do NOT like:

X2N
Steve's Special
Evo

I'm down between the Air Zone, the Norton, and the good ole PAF Pro. Breeds seem to be a tad too dark for what I'm looking for.

Any thoughts?

I would just say don't get stuck in the DiMarzio box. I was in the box once, replacing DiMarzios with other DiMarzios... It's an easy trap when you're an Ibanez devotee. There are other pickup companies out there. Many! Doing wonderful, toneful things.

Ever look at the Rio Grande BBQ?

Try the Seymour Duncan Full shred! Take it from an 80's guy!

tone zone or super distortion. in that guitar, i would go for the super distortion. me personally, the super 3, especially if comparing it to the f2. i swapped the f2 in my rg770dx with a super3 and it absolutely kills now.
