Love Breeds, but need more accents...

I love the sound of the Breeds in my Bad Horsie, but no matter how articulate you pick your notes when shredding Low E to D strings, it is really, really muddy. Yet, the sound from the G to High E strings is just absolutely beautiful and rich. Is there any way to balance it out so that the Low E to D strings are not so muddy while maintaining the richness of the sound from G to High E? Rolling back the pickups from the top strings only reduced gain and didn't do much for articulating the sound.

So I doubt there is any setup that can improve this (though I'm interested to see if anyone can counter that), so is there perhaps a pickup set that compares? I've played the Tone Zone (B) - PAF Pro (N) combo in an S Series and it sounded stellar and all the notes were articulate. Yet, as nice as that set is, leads on the G to High E strings didn't sound as good as the Breed bridge.

This is for some of my Jems and 550'ish Basswood guitars (not my Bad Horsie! I'd never mod that!). All advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How about lowering the pickups on the bass side a bit?

Should slightly reduce output on the bass side and *maybe* clear things up a bit.

Lower the pickup and raise the pole pieces on the bass side.
That's the cure for muddy low strings

Those 12 adjustable poles are a blessing coz it makes it possible to really fine tune the pickup.

I also took out the tone control in my S540 with a breed. It added a bit more punch and definition.

You can also put the tone control after the tone circuit instead of the way that it use to be.

try the regular NORTON in the bridge
the breed and norton both have big mids but the norton has better clarity and defintion overall
