Lundgren M7 - DSonic7 - EMG 707 - Bareknuckle Nailbomb7

Has anyone had the chance to try out and compare some of these? As usual, you can read some general comments around forums from people having tried some of them individually, but way too subjective ones to be taken too seriously in my opinion. One of the problems is, for instance, that people tend to think that a "boutique" pickup ought to be by definition better than a factory-line produced pickup. And I don't buy that. Case in point, Lundgren/Bareknuckle vs DiMarzios/EMGs/Seymours/etc. Well, I'd ask anyone with feedback to provide to please refrain from entering into such discussion.

I'd like to mostly hear how sonically (hence factually) one compares to the other. And there is enough subjetivity in that activity already. DiMarzio is great in giving some preliminary tech information about their pickups, not the case with some of the others. Reason why it's hard to try to make up your mind on cashing out on something else that you don't know much about, and in addition, costs twice or three times more.

Comments?

Hi,

I haven't played any Lundgren/BK guitars but there are a lot more sevenstring people who have at Sevenstring.org - I can guarantee your question has been answered there or there is someone who can.

Cheers

I don't have any experience with Bareknuckles, but I will say that the Lundgren M7 sounds absolutely killer. It has ultra nice cleans and great lead, but unfortunately the amp I was playing through couldn't really exploit all of the possibilities. I would take this pickup over a EMG 707.

EMG707, like all the EMG line, are as sterile as a brain surgery room.

Why? are the Dsonic7 and regular Dsonic not good enough...? I was planning on getting one for my C-dropped RG320...

Could you please elaborate? I actually regard the DSonic very well, top in my list of DiMarzios. Not hyped but balanced, good gain but not extreme. Still used by JohnP, to the date.

Don't forget the Blackout 7-strings are on the way this month, including a passive size that won't require routing.

I can't wait. I am very excited about giving these a try without having to destroy the route.

I'm freaking ready to try the Blackouts in general. I've only read like 1 review on them and haven't heard any sound clips or good walkthroughs of what they can do vs EMG's or regular passives.
