Check out JP on the D-Sonic portion of the site. Who does he think he is? Dave Navarro? I hope he doesn't stick with this look long.

Re: Modified Air Norton

JP has a neck pup wound by DMZ that is based on the AN but it has a little more clarity
THE REST IS UP The PLAYER!
essentially he uses a steve special/air norton

Re: Modified Air Norton

Well.. so far his Pickup choices over the years has gone from the Tone Zone/Humbucker from Hell combo to the Steve's Special/Air Norton combo and now it's D-Sonic/Air Norton. I dunno about everyone else, but I'm not really digging his D-Sonic/Air Norton combo very much.

Re: Modified Air Norton

I personally really like the D-sonic pickup in the bridge but not faced in the direction that he has it faced.

Me neither....

Quick question: I've been pouring over older DT material recently and I love his tone on I&W and Awake but I recently viewed the Images and Words Live in Tokyo DVD and was wondering what was up with JP's tone? It sounds awful. Thin and no guts.

The polepieces are different. It could be simple as that!

Has anyone noticed any tone difference between his Air Norton and a normal one?

I think it sounds thin because of his TriAxis. Some people donīt seem to know how to set it up properly.

Re: Modified Air Norton

JP's modded air norton is just that the one coil is not air gapped
normally the aior norton has two air gapped spaces on each side of the magnet
if you have air norton and make the stud side non air you will have his mod

that tone is terrible considering he is using a tonezone!
on that DVD he was still using a tone zone so it must be his triaxis because i cant make a tone zone sound that thin no matter what
he MAY have wired the tone zone to be in parallel this would make it very bright and thinner?
