Breed in my opinion.

you ask so many pickup questions, you know if you don't like a pickup, you can exchange it?

I do ask a lot of questions when setting up a new guitar. I don't know how to install them so I don't like to have to pay to have another installed.

Breeds they get really metal when you throw a MT-2 on or similar metal pedal, great for giving your playing a real fat metal sound.

So which would you recommend between the Breed and Steve's Special. Does the SS have a healthy enough bottom end to do palm muted metal riffs, I love it's solo tone from the clips I've heard.

IMO, the TZ is more aggressive, but it can also get muddy at high gain. I like the tone of the Breed better, but, YMMV.

Also looking forward for the SS/Breed comparison...I sure like to know how the SS manages Drop tunings (let's say drop C for example) also...

Re: More Aggressive Leads Tove Zone or Breed

Sorry about the wait guys. Well I've found that the SS is very chunky when it comes to rhythm compared to the Breed. The Breed is a great pickup -- don't get me wrong; however, it wasn't as "metal" as the rest of my rig and doesn't keep up with the rest of the guitars in my arsenal.

The Breed's leads definitely sing more than the SS, but I like how the SS is very clear and articulate. Chords are very clear compared to the Breed (which is also clear, but not to this extent). I would take the leads from the breed over the SS, but the SS doesn't sacrifice too much in that department.

Overall, I love the tone I get from the SS more than the Breed. Most likely due to the fact i'm running everything through a Boogie Mark III -- it's captured that Ibanez-Petrucci sound that I love so much. It's much more aggressive than the Breed. It's a different pickup, but I dig it.

Let me know if there is anything else anyone has questions or clarification on.

Dude, ...if you are "replacing" existing pups, usually all you have to do is copy the wiring that exists. Or, if you have another guitar with the same pup configuration in which you've had the pups replaced, you can use that as a go-by. By yourself a $20 soldering iron, a roll of solder and save yourself a bunch of money! I know the Dimarzio instructions can be depressing to try and figure out, but if you have a go by you should save your money. Just a thought, ...trying to help you out. Then you'll have more money to spend on trying out new pups!!!
