My SAS36 is getting new Pups

I'm getting a Dimarzio area 58 in the neck and a Duncan P-rail in the bridge. At this time I'm leaving the middle alone but am considering the Dimarzio Area 61. I'll let you know how it sounds. Has anyone else tried the SD dimarzio combo.

Here's the update, The dimarzio didnt make it as the wires were to short to put in the neck but the P-rail sounds nice. I like it alot.

really the wires were too short? That's odd. I have Dimarzio pups in my HSS guitar's neck and it fit just fine. Is it a used pup?

No I bought it new from MF. I did wonder about it when I got it. Everything was in the box but the little plastic case it came in looked a little worn. I'm gonna call them about it.

Re: My SAS36 is getting new Pups

I returned the dimarzio and am now going with Lace Gold. I've got an odd buzz that seems to come from the bridge or possibly rom the magnets on the pups. I'm hoping the sensors resolve this buzz too.

Anyone else having problems with Sat pro bridge buzz?

Re: My SAS36 is getting new Pups

My mod is finally done and I've got some info that I hope is helpful to others. My final H-S-S config is a Seymour P-rail in the bridge a Dimarzio area 58 in the middle and an area 67 in the neck.

I intended to put the 58 in the neck but the leads came short so I put it in the middle and liked it. (My assumption after receiveing the 67 is M-fr**d sent me a used p-up.) The PROBLEM I experiences was that the Area p-up design isn't compatible with the stock neck single coil. so whenever I chose position 2 (neck & Middle) I got a very muted sound almost no output at all. As an isolated middle it sounded great but because of the problem I considered taking it out and using something else completely.

Well I shelved the project for a until last nite when I installed a new Dimarzio Area 67 in the neck and all's well. The wire leads were plenty long enough to wire it as a neck p-up and the position 2 issue is gone. I like the 67 sound for the Hendrix tone and the 58 for that Quacky strat sound. I'm still getting used to the p-rail as I prefer the single coil sound so I'm typically splitting it. I'm happy for now and looking forward to exploring my new combo. Hopefully, this helps others.
