Neck Evo Tone?

Posted this in another thread but didn't get much response.

Those with an Evo combo, how would you describe the neck pickup, clean, warm, glassy, smooth, thin, harsh, articulate, bright? Does it compair to any other pickup?

I used one in an old basswood ibz i had many years ago... It was in the Paf Pro realm but more compressed sounding, also colder and tighter. Overall, not as chirpy and alive... Personally, I didn't get the impression of versatility.

I 2nd Mike.

The Evo neck.. it really does what Vai wants it to do, and thats pretty much, IT. You could split it but it retains its compressed tone.

I like ceremic pups though... for instrumental rock at least... but the Evos (Evo/Evo2/Evo neck) are just.... not for me, the compression became a problem after the honeymoon period with them.
