Neck pup to go with Bill Lawrence L500xl

Hi, I have a 90's Washburn USA made MG104 with a BL L500xl (dont want to discuss original/fake) pup in the bridge position and im looking for a hot neck pup to provide me with ripping leads. The guitar has an alder body & quilted maple neck, im currently thinking a Dimarzio Evo 2 in the neck maybe a good match but would welcome any experience / knowledge of a good combination.

DiMarzio PAF Pro or the Duncan '59 would be my recommendations.

The Evo2 is designed with the bridge slot in mind, and in my opinion it should say there.

The Evo 2 is thin and trebly in the neck, but I wouldn't call it useless.

I've read that the paf pro doesnt handle heavy distortion very well? I suppose its just one persons opinion.

Really going round in circles with this, wasting far too much time searching the internet...

PAF Pro doesn't handle distortion well? It was one of the go-to pickups in the eighties for hard rock, metal and shred. Just out of the notable ibanez players, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani have used the PAF Pro. I'm sure their overdriven sounds were great.

Well just remember that to write a review of the PAF Pro and post it on the internet, all you need is a computer and a modem, you don't need to even have tried the pickup, or even to be able to play the guitar

My internet "opinion" is that I have more neck PAF Pros than any other neck pick up. So many so that I would actually have to go open cases to count just how many.

Funny you ask about this combo. I often play an RG520 with L500XL bridge and DZ PAF pro in the neck position. Sounds great. I typically play rock/metal/shred type stuff with it.

It does, but not in the bridge IMO.

It's a medium output pickup, it's not going to drive an amp hard, but it'll sound awesome when the gain is there at the amp/pedal end.
