Need a wiring suggestion

Ok here's what I've got.

After finding out my pickups needed re-potting i decided to fork out for some better quality pickups.

Now I have gone for some Kent Armstrong pickups, these are two humbuckers HR0/WPU 11 and a HR1RC cool blades (Single coil size). So in effect I have 3 Humbuckers. Each of these pickups have 5 wires, Black, White, Green, Red, and Ground.

Now my idea so far is this I have 1 Vol, 1 Tone and a 5way switch for the usual H-S-H set up, but I want to add (and i've already bought) a 2 way 3 pole switch, and what I want to accomplish is turning the 3 humbuckers into single coils.

Is this possible with what I've got as I can't seem to think clearly at the moment!!! just got wires wires wires wires wires wires wires wires... stuck in my head

I get the impression that 3 pole switches are rather uncommon, but if that's what you've got, you should be able to coil-tap all three humbuckers with it quite easily. Should be a no-brainer, just find a diagram with a standard 2 pole coil tap switch, picture a third row of lugs on it and add the third pickup there. Nothing to it.

Re: Need a wiring suggestion

you could do it with a push pull and no holes need to be drilled....

the answer is: yes...you can split all 3 hum with just 1 switch....

i did it to my strat with 3 singlecoil sized dimarzio airnorton + fast track and got the diagram somewhere...i´ll try to post it..

pd: at the end i prefered wiring my neck and middle pu to be series/parallel via 2 push/pull than using tha 3 coil split wiring....

Unless it's a 3 or 4 pole switch, you most certainly cannot. I've never seen a push-pull switch that's more than 2 pole.

Re: Need a wiring suggestion

Interesting. I've never seen it quite that way, but I guess that does work. How embarrassing.

EDIT: Ah, now I see a problem. The one thing that doesn't allow is to have the usual Ibanez style split humbucker sound in positions 2 and 4. You'd be mixing either 2 full humbuckers or two split humbuckers depending on the position the switch. Still, it's an interesting idea.

EDIT 2: Damnit, that's not even right! I should think before I post. And really the automatic split at positions 2 and 4 is only really relevant when you have a single coil in the middle, not in a triple hum arrangment.

Re: Need a wiring suggestion

Lol ok...

woooosh!!! over my head

1st off no holes need to be drilled,

this is the kind of switch I was on about (search **** uk for "2way switch 3 pole") can't post links yet

I'm using it at the moment in the guitar to choose between which pickup I want to use (B/N) because I'm waiting for my hot-rails pickup type thing to arrive, and the switch was a spare I had lying around...

So bearing in mind that no holes need to be drilled etc, is it possible with this switch to switch from 3 humbuckers to 3 single coils?

If not then I'll invest in a P/P Control.
