Need Neck & Middle Recommendation for HSS

I have an HSS with a FRED in the bridge and the junky stock pieces in the other positions. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Its a 1991 EX360. My favorite sound is a blues sound with extra distortion (some of what you hear with Satriani).

dimarzio chopper's or any of the single coil dimarzio with the 2 blade type, those sound humbuckerish and would have the most gain

I was going to recommend the chopper(s) as well... You're requirements appear to be in line with the Dimarzio description. I've never had any experience with them personally. In fact, I wish that I had a spare axe to try them out with. If you go that route definately let us know what you think.

The only Single size humbuckers I have had any experience with are the Fast Tracks 1 and 2. Those I can say are definately NOT what you're looking for with the Fred.
