need pickups info

Hi to every one !
I want to ask you if you can give me some examples of songs were I can hear the tipical sound of diferent pickups (like the evolutions, the Beeds, the Blaze , Paf pro, Fred, etc.), disorted and with a clean sound.
I’m about to begin a “guitar project” but over here I don`t have the chance to play a Jem , a universe or a JS guitar in a store to find out the diferences in sound of this pickups.

So, because most of you have or usually play these guitars, I thought you could easily identify the sound of these pickups in a song and tell me so I can see the diference and choose the right pickups for my project.

Any pickup that you can guive me some info about will be of great help !!!.

Thanks a lot (and forguive my poor english) !!

Re: need pickups info

Sorry, but with all the other factors that go into a professionally recording (specs of guitar beyond pickups, amps, effects, post-production, not to mention the fingers of the guitar player, just to name a few), there is simply no way to accurately discern the tonal qualities of a particular pickup model from listing to songs.

A slightly more plausible approach would be to describe what kind of sound you're after and what kind of guitar the pickups are going into. Based on that, someone familiar with pickups could probably offer you a fairly narrow range of models that might suit your needs. And then again, they might not. Frankly, everyone hears tone a little differently and the differences in tone generated by different pickup models are often extremely subtle, or only present themselves in certain circumstances.

Yes my friend, you've got a pretty tall order there.

If it's any help though I think the newer Satriani live sound is pretty representative of the Fred and Paf Pro, atleast by my ears. No way i'll ever play like that though. Even tinkering around with an Evolution set for a year I couldn't get the Vai thing going on. Those young punks that can nail it though a Line 6 amp really pi$$ me off too.

Also, I hear The Tone Zone in alot of Paul Gilberts playing too.
