Hi guys
I'm currently working on a warmoth strat and now I need pickups.
It's a Swamp Ash Body with maple top, maple neck and
maple fretboard.
The routing is H-S-S (with bridge coil split, and a switch for parallel wiring)
The guitar is going to be used for Clean, Funk and texas blues stuff,
so I definitely don't need no gain monsters. I got others guitars for metal, but it should be able to do some lead work.
What would be your recommendations? The Guitar is going to be pretty bright sounding, so I need at least a little bit of meat from my pup's to even out the sound
Basically, anything I can get directly from warmoth is fine. Dimarzio's are also easy to get around here, they're fine too.
For the neck SC I was thinking of a Dimarzio YJM. I really liked it in the
malmsteen strat. Very low output, and great dynamics. Don't know if it does well for cleans and Funk/blues tho, I wasn't into that kind of music when I tried it out back then. It's definitely great for leads tho, even with the low output.
I forgot, it should be a hum canceling SC.
The new Dimarzio Area XX pups also seem nice, but they might be a tad too bright in an all maple/ash guitar.
What about middle SC? Should I get a reverse wound pup? I love switch position 2 and 4, so I don't want no junk in the middle.
What about the Bridge pup? Should be medium output at best.
Must have a good with coil splitting as I don't like clean sounds with Humbuckers. I really have no idea what to choose here, none of the dimarzio's or duncan seem to appeal to me for this kind of guitar. They all sound too "plain" (at least the descrption does)
Rio grande seems to have a nice selection of Buckers, but I've never heard or tried any.
I hope you guys can help me out, I'm open to any recommendations.
It would also be great if you tell me WHY a specific pup would be a good choice. Posts like "pick the XXX, it rox0rz" don't really help me out.
Thanks in advance
