NEED WIRING DIAGRAM ASAP!!!

Ibanez RG350 - 1 volume pot, 1 tone pot, 5-way switch. Took out the stock H/S/H config., putting in a Dimarzio PAF PRO (neck) and Dimarzio Super Distortion (bridge) and nothing in the middle spot. Any wiring diagram that will make that work very appreciated. I need one by tonight! Coil tapping or not, whatever you can help me out with.

One other question, which way should the 5-way be facing? The little soldering pieces facing the volume pot or facing away from the volume pot? I think Ibanez installed it backwards, but not sure?!

http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2004&w=RG350DX

ok first off .

the stock pickups verus the dimarzio pickup wiring colors for the bridge pickup
stock Dimarzio
red = red
white = white and black wired together
bare = geen and bare

since you going to have the coils split you can reverse the phase of the neck to help get rid of some of the hum .

stock Dimarzio
red = Green
white = white and black
bare = red and bare

So the lead wire from the middle pickup is white . You are taking it out so just remeber which termenal it was connected to .

Useing the above color listings replace the stock with the dimarzio. Use the diagram above to reffer back to , you may even want to print it out and mark what wires you have connected and havn't connected and mark which dimarzio colors go where .

Once you have the switch and all the grounds wired up , we are going to take care of the middel position on the switch since you took out the single coil . Take two peices of wire and solder them to the two terminals you connected the white and bacl wires from the two dimarzio pickups . then solder the other ends of the two wires to the terminal that use to have the single coil connected .

Now if this works right the middle position should be both the neck and bridge split running out of phase meaning no hum .

If it doesn't work post back and i'll see if i can't think of something else that may work .

What about the 5-way switch, should the soldering pieces be facing the volume pot or facing away from the volume pot? I think it was my RG, when I got it the 5-way switch was put in backwards, so I switched it around, I can't remember though.

to be totally honest i dont remeber which way it goes . I have wired up switches before and put them in backwards and had to flip the around. I think the flat side faces in toward the cavity and the side with the box goes to the outside .

Re: NEED WIRING DIAGRAM ASAP!!!

I wired them exactly how you described... it seems like the neck pickup is in middle position (for some reason) and in the neck p-up position I'm getting both humbuckers together? The only position where I get no sound at all is where the neck p-up should be split? I think I'm going to just get a 3-way CRL switch, I'm sick of playing around with the wiring for the 5-way. If you could get me a diagram for H/H - 1 volume pot and 1 tone pot, that would be awesome.

Re: NEED WIRING DIAGRAM ASAP!!!

well i am sorry the switch didn't work out for you .

here is one of the better 3 way switches and a wiring diagram .

you know what is hot and what is ground , and you'll just solder the black and white wires together and tape them because you wont need them for anything .

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electron...1.html#details

that switch is that same as the one fender sells as thier "original replacemnt" parts .

on my RG's the solder connections face away from the volume pot... have you tried soldering them "back to front" ?

Re: NEED WIRING DIAGRAM ASAP!!!

Perhaps you can follow an ibanez wireing diagram for a RG 520 H/H with 5-way off the ibanez site?

Re: NEED WIRING DIAGRAM ASAP!!!

whatisshredding - ok, my 5-way faces away from the volume pot, too. It was the RG that came direct from Ibanez with the switch put in backwards... Thanks.

moebius - I'll check the RG520 diagram. Do I go by the wire color chart j.arledge posted?

There's the RG520 diagram, should I go by this for the wiring?

the stock pickups verus the dimarzio pickup wiring colors for the bridge pickup
stock Dimarzio
red = red
white = white and black wired together
bare = geen and bare

stock Dimarzio
red = Green
white = white and black
bare = red and bare

Also, just leave the 2 near the bridge with nohing soldered to them?
