I just got a new RG1570 (my first Ibanez) that currently has the stock pickups in it (V8-S1-V7). I'm interested in replacing the V8 bridge pickup with a Dimarzio of some kind, but I'm not really familiar with the pickups in the Dimarzio line (I've been using Duncans in all my guitars up to now).
My favorite Duncan bridge pickup is the JB, but I've only used it in guitars with alder bodies and fixed bridges. Does Dimarzio make a pickup that has the same output, bite, and harmonics of the JB but a fuller bass response to counter the tone-thinning effects of the RG's
basswood body, thin neck, and floating trem?
I looked at the Dimarzio site; alot of the high output
bridge pickups (Tone Zone, Breed, Air Zone) seem to have a TON of mids and a fairly extreme treble rolloff. Are those tone guides pretty accurate? If so, I would imagine that I would be looking for a pickup with a bit more presence.
Would an Evolution fit the bill?
Thanks in advance for your help!
